What is a feature film?

A feature film is a full-length motion picture with a running time of typically over 60 minutes. It is usually intended for commercial release in cinemas and is the main attraction of a cinema program. Feature films may be dramatic or comedic, narrative or documentary, and can cover a vast range of genres including action, romance, sci-fi, horror, and thriller. Feature films are usually created by large studio productions or independent filmmakers and are made with a higher budget and production value than short films or television shows. They are also usually rated by organizations such as the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) to indicate the appropriate audience age group for the content of the movie.
